A wedding photographer works from bright midday portraits to dark dance floors in a single day. Pack for every condition and make sure every critical item has a backup.
Camera bodies
- Two professional bodies, ideally the same model so settings and batteries match
- Dual card slots recording to both cards, so one card failure doesn't lose the day
- Spare batteries for both bodies
Lenses

- A 70–200mm f/2.8 for ceremonies and candids from a distance
- An 85mm or similar fast prime for portraits
- A macro lens for rings and details
Flash and light
- Two on-camera speedlights
- Off-camera flash with triggers for receptions and formals
- Light stands, plus a reflector for outdoor portraits
- Plenty of rechargeable batteries
Everything else
- Memory cards in a labeled case, with a system for used and unused cards
- A comfortable dual-camera harness or holster for a long day
- The timeline, shot list and family formal list, printed or on your phone
- Water, snacks and comfortable shoes
After the wedding
Back up the same night to at least two places before formatting any card. Most studios expect organized files within a day or two of the wedding.
